over the past decade, I have been on a self-health journey. along the way, I discovered a newfound passion in health and wellness, and realized how much I loved learning it, living it and sharing it. formative teenage years

I started my wellness quest when I was a teenager, living in southern germany. my emotional state was off balance, and I developed an eating disorder that essentially destroyed my digestive system. after suffering from chronic constipation and digestive issues with no success from any diets or doctor’s advice, I decided to try and cure myself.

health exploration

I explored dozens of diets, natural remedies, and supplements, and I even visited multiple health spas around the world, all with little to no success. finally, about a year before covid began, I went to yet another health spa in germany that was close to where I grew up. here, I finally got to the bottom of my gut issues following a clean food-based non-depriving mimic fasting program allowing my body to heal itself. I found a solution in the same place the problems began. I felt like I had gone full circle.

career path

in my previous career, I was the director at tocca beauty, a division of the niche fashion brand tocca, mostly consisting of fragrances and home fragrances. at tocca beauty, the goal was to inspire consumers to think about beauty from a deeper level. here, I came upon my own conclusion that true beauty comes from within and realized that the future of the beauty industry is strongly linked to the wellness industry. working at tocca beauty further prompted me to explore beauty from a deeper level and naturally transition into wellness.

physical fitness

fitness and physical health played major roles in my lifelong self-discovery and self-healing journey. I grew up in a very athletic household. as a young child, I remember countless weekends when my family took us hiking and skiing where I couldn’t wait to get away from the mountains. when I moved to new york, where I was less active and lived mostly in high heels, I experienced herniated and degenerative disc problems. this is when I discovered pilates which completely cured me of all those problems. I never needed surgery and haven’t had any symptoms for years.

I absolutely fell in love with pilates: all the small details, the precision, the science of contrology, the history, and more. I also saw all of the positive effects pilates had on my body. I developed long lean muscles, there was no loose skin on my legs, no flabby fat deposits on my upper arms and I had six-pack abs. I felt so strong and powerful from within. pilates also took my yoga practice to a much deeper level. I wanted to learn more, so I became a certified pilates instructor.

during the pandemic, when health & wellness were at the forefront of everyone’s mind, I decided that it was time to launch  bySILKE, a cleanse and wellness program, based on fasting, designed to restore the body, mind, and soul and to you can achieve a better balance and a better you.
